Problem
Today’s engineering is characterized by a variety of computer tools (CAD, CAE, PDM, …) numerous interfaces, extensive modeling and conversion work and inconsistent data structures.
Approach
The Center for Applied Research “Digital Product Life Cycle” (DiP) transfers the extremely powerful approaches of hardware and software development (including the Unified Modeling Language UML) and adapts them to wide areas of mechanical engineering and automotive engineering. In doing so, the project team can rely on an engineering framework based on graph-based design languages and UML, enabling a fully automated process.
Objectives
We investigate and develop processes, methods, tools and libraries for manufacturing companies by integrating the entire product lifecycle with all relevant product, process and resource-related data into an overall digital model.
